A Good Gauge

It is once again that time of year when there are discussions about how much rain fell.  One of the problems with rain measurements is that not all rain gauges are create equally.   In fact, many of the cheap rain gauges sold at stores are not all that accurate.  If you want accurate reliable rainfall readings you should invest in a 4” cylinder rain gauge.  These are the gauges that some folks describe as a Dewey rain gauge after Dewey Bergquist the long time meteorologist at WDAY-TV that sold such gauges many years ago.   These gauges are very accurate if situated well, away from buildings and trees and I recommend buying one if you want accurate rainfall readings.
