Atmospherically Dry

I have had numerous inquires as to the average relative humidity this month.  Relative Humidity, as the name suggests is relative to the air temperature.  An overall daily average isn’t necessarily the best way to determine the amount of moisture in the atmosphere.  Using the dew point, or the delta T temperature, the difference between the dry bulb, the current air temperature, and the wet bulb, the lowest temperature to which air can be cooled by the evaporation, are a bit better to determine the moisture content of the air.  Although such records aren’t always kept, I can tell you that, yes, the air has been very dry so far this month.
