This week starts off cool, but warmer air is expected in a few days. Each cold front that moves through this time of year tends to be a bit cooler than the previous cold front. Eventually come September one of the cold fronts will be in enough cool air for the first frost of the season. In early August some parts of the area, including Cass County, had lows of 36 degrees, and the past couple of front passages have dropped temps to the upper 30s in a few locations. An early frost is often triggered by dry soils and with the weekend rains not hitting everyone equally, the drier locations would be the most likely to have an earlier frost than average in the upcoming few weeks.
