DST

This weekend is the beginning of Daylight-Saving Time.  Most people remember it by the “Spring Forward” moniker.  At 2 AM on Sunday the time will switch to 3 AM, meaning if you still get up at the same time, you’ll lose an hour of sleep.  The interesting thing about working in weather is that all things weather is done in Greenwich Mean Time, which is referenced as Zulu time in the weather world.  This means the data flows in at the same time, but those areas that use Daylight Time will get the weather information one hour later.  Plus, all climate data is based on standard time, which means the climate day will run from 1 AM to 1 AM until the first weekend in November.
