I am sure that most of you have not forgotten the very early freeze the region experienced in the fall of 2020. September 7 and 8 of 2020 was so cold that it effectively ended the growing season last year. The summer of 2020 was a warm one, meaning plenty of growing degree units, but the early freeze took away a lot of that potential. Of course, the spring of 2021 in turn had a very late freeze, meaning a lot of replanting had to done after a very cold May 28. That was one of the latest freezes on record. In turn, the question of an early freeze this autumn comes up frequently. Right now, it doesn’t appear a very early freeze will occur, but never say never.
