Most summers at some point this area will have impacts from fires to our west or northwest. This summer has on several occasions recorded a hazy sky because of smoke in the air. This year, the smoke has been confined mostly to the upper levels of the atmosphere. Meaning outside of some redder sunrises and sunsets and a slight cooling of temperatures, we have not had any major surface influences associated with the smoke. You may recall a couple of years ago that the smoke reached the surface greatly reducing visibility, plus, caused some respiratory issues in some individuals. The fires issues out west will likely last for several more weeks.
