In Search of Snow

It was a winter without much snow and as I mentioned in this segment earlier this week, it was also a winter when the biggest snow event for many of us occurred in October.  Although this winter seemed low on snow and it was certainly below average, in Fargo for example our snow total is currently ranked as the 37th lowest on record.  Yes, 37th. In other words, this winter hasn’t been usual for snow amounts if you live in the southern Red River Valley.  In fact, snow totals this winter were very similar to what we experienced in 2011-12, 2015-16 and 2016-17 to name some recent years with nearly identical amounts. Plus, for good or bad, we still have more snow potential in this climate.
