On Monday morning (August 1, 2016) a couple of thunderstorms developed near Devils Lake and slowly moved to the east south east. Once near McVille, ND the storms paused and remained stationary for a couple of hours dumping over 3 inches of rain in a fairly small location. Many of you keep asking why is it that parts of Nelson, Grand Forks, Walsh and Marshall Counties seem to continually be recording these types of events this summer. It isn’t an answer most want to hear, but it in many ways is simply quote unquote “the weather”. Weather patterns are long term processes that often impact us in short term ways. Too often simplistic answers are given to explain away the complex, meaning there are so simply answer here, except the obvious, it will end. Just a matter of when.
