Many of you may be excited because today is Star Wars Day. So May the fourth be with you. But in the weather and climate community the new climate averages are expected to be released today. The averages you hear frequently in weather reports are based on the past 30 years in whole decades. Because 2021 was the beginning of a new decade, the averages that were based on 1981 through 2010 are being switched to the years of 1991 through 2020. The one major change in our averages will come from rain. Most locations will see yearly rainfall averages jump by approximately 1 inch. Other averages are not expected to change much.
