There will be a surge of warm air today, followed by cooler, yet, seasonal temperatures tomorrow through Friday, with another surge of warmer air expected this weekend. If you have snow on the ground, you’ll likely see warmer temperatures this weekend rather than today because part of the energy today will be used to melt snow, lessening the high temperature potential. No precipitation of consequence is expect until next week. This winter has been full of storms just to the south and southeast of North Dakota. We will find out if that trend will continue or if North Dakota will get hit by this next storm. Often as we move toward spring the winter storm track shifts a bit farther north, but there is an old saying in meteorological circles and that is the trend is your friend. In other words, it is hard to project when the pattern you’ve been stuck with will finally end.
