Now that we are in thunderstorm season, many of you will be using your smart phone to look at a radar app to track the storm. Most generic radar imagery you find from television or national weather companies phone apps are composite radar images. In other words, they blend all the radars in the area together into one image. That tends to distort what the image on your phone is showing in comparison to what is actually occurring. Instead of using those types of radar applications, I always suggest using an app that specializes in single site radar imagery. My favorite phone app for radar is Radarscope, it’s not free, but it gives you the better radar imagery.
