If you’re wondering when was the last time it was this cold in February, it was just two years ago. February 2019 was the coldest second month of the year since 1979 and the 11th coldest all time in Fargo, but was ranked as the 2nd coldest February for all of North Dakota. The only February colder was the famed February of 1936 when most of North Dakota remained below zero for an entire month. Yes, we tend to have short weather memories. Temperatures will be warming up this week, although another arctic outbreak at the end of the month wouldn’t surprise me, but either way, we have no chance of breaking 1936 record and probably not 2019s cold readings either.
