As we move into April the odds increase that rain will be more dominate than snow, although, we do average several inches in April. I mention this because April is usually the month when you can bring out your rain gauge or for some of you, rain gauges. Rain gauges like many other things, are not all created equally. Most rain gauges are not very accurate, but likely are good enough for most purposes. If you want accurate readings, I suggest buying a 4-inch, tube within a tube gauge. Search for Stratus rain gauge at your local hardware store. But no matter what gauge you use, make sure it is level which is very important for accuracy.
