September was warm and wet for most of North Dakota. Temperature wise, a high percentage of North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota recorded temperatures between 1 and 3 degrees above normal. So it was a mild month, yet, not as warm as some recent Septembers. Although the month of September was just a bit above average for temperatures, it was way above for rainfall. All of western and northern North Dakota recorded rain in the 2 to 400 percent of normal. The only part of the area that finished the month drier than average was in parts of southeastern North Dakota and west Central Minnesota. In actual numbers the wet parts of the state received anywhere from 3 to 6 inches last month.
