If you are a soybean grower there is a new tool available to you via the North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network, often referred to as NDAWN. The website can be found at NDAWN.org. In the application section you would find many useful agricultural tools, including the new soybean growing degree day model. Select your cultivar and your planting date and through research at NDSU an estimated maturity date will be given. The tool will also give you the average frost and freeze dates to give you a sense if your beans will mature before those average dates. Plus, it will quickly give you how many soybean growing degree days have been accumulated for all of the 84 NDAWN stations in the region.
