Thanksgiving Day unlike many other holidays does not fall on the same day every year. In turn, it is harder to gather statistics for this holiday as the dates vary from November 22 to November 28. It will come as no surprise to you that the later in the month Thanksgiving falls on, the higher the probability of there being snow and in turn travel problems. Probably the worst Thanksgiving was in the year 1896 where there was a severe blizzard across much of the upper Midwest on and around the holiday that year. Bad storms cause cancellations, so often the worst traveling is during light or moderate snow events. Although travel today won’t be too bad, the next few days look differently.
