Too Wet = Fungus

With the recent rains comes one particular hazard to area crops.  Fungus.  The recent rains in combination with the normal evaporation from the sun in combination with the rapid uptake of the soil water into the plants is and will be creating abundant low level moisture, especially at night.   This will mean relative humidity values above 85% for prolong periods of time for the next few days that will likely produce moderate to heavy dew on plants.  This in term will lead to the possibility of fungal diseases on crops.  The North Dakota Agricultural Weather Network does have many tools to help track such infections and you can learn more by going to NDAWN.org
