The rest of this week is going to be tough for area crops. With temperatures in the 80s and 90s and most crops either just emerging or recently emerged will mean many crops will be depended on the moisture in the top few inches of the soil. Depending on your location, with little or no moisture expected across the region during this warm stretch, crop stress is going to a huge concern. Once we get through this period of high heat by our standards, there should be thunderstorms back into the forecast next week. Most rain events have been crucial this spring, but after this upcoming heat, the next rain may make or break the growing season.
