As we all know, rain does not fall evenly across the region. One of my favorite examples of this was a thunderstorm that passed over parts of Fargo Moorhead a few years ago. My backyard in south Fargo recorded over 3 inches of rain. That rain then extended into southern Moorhead. The streets in my neighborhood were flooded and remained full of water for over an hour. When I was looking radar this cell looked fairly isolated and this was confirmed when someone I know just 3 blocks away only recorded a quarter of an inch with that cell. This summer there have been similar events, where isolated big rains occurred, but missed most spots.
