Warm or Cool May?

There are several reasons to believe that we will record more cooler than average days than warmer than average temperatures over the course of the next few weeks.  Yet, the cooler than average temperatures should not be as far below normal as were recorded during the first three weeks of April.  Being below average in May has been a fairly common occurrence in the past 15 years, some have been well below, but most have been just two or three degrees below average.   My current feelings are that May 2018 may fall into that slightly below average range.  Precipitation is expected to be near average which would mean two to three inches of rain across the state next month.
