Last month finished about as average as a month can finish for temperatures in this area, but precipitation, it was anything but average. With the exception of some locations in Sargent and LaMoure, Counties in southeastern North Dakota a most of far northwestern North Dakota, most of the rest of North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota recorded a very wet July. Many spots recorded double the average rainfall for the month. Average rainfall is in the 2.5 to 3.0 inch range for most locations and typically, over 4” was recorded. With the exception of northeastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota, this was mostly good news as May and June were quite dry.
