Windathon Continues

This region gets very used to strong wind from the north or northwest this time of year.  Many farms are situated with trees to the north and west of the house and buildings to protect themselves from that standard wind direction.  Today is an example that you can get a strong south wind in the winter.  Because a straight south wind doesn’t mix in the warmer air aloft very well, you can get a south wind in the winter and still not warm up all that much.  The south wind is being replaced with a northwest wind (and warmer temperatures) as a cold front moves through the region today, so our windy weather is continuing and depending on your location and time of day it will be from two directions.
