We have certainly experienced some 90 degree heat this summer, but today is the first day of the year that the heat has also come with high dew points. Although these conditions will only last a day or two depending on your location, some precautions still need to be used. In agriculture, cattle are probably the main concern, but because of the short duration of this event, they will likely do OK if the common sense approaches of access to water and cooling fans are used in enclosed areas. Most of the area crops have adequate moisture for now and again, because this excessive heat will not be prolong will also likely not feel too much stress. The crops that could use a bit of moisture, the transition to cool should trigger more thunderstorms threats this week as well.
