This time of year, with the shorter days and the longer nights, a lower sun angle and cooler temperatures, getting fields to dry off can be difficult. With the projected temperatures and sky cover next week, some good drying should occur. The past couple of autumns were cloudy, slowing down evaporation. If we go back two years, 2019 was also crazy wet. We will likely have rain systems slow things down, but overall, harvest season is looking much more promising this year, at least in the next two weeks. Plus, I doubt I need to remind anyone listening, that we’ve had 3 straight Octobers with early snowstorms. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen again.
