There are many periods of time when it doesn’t seem like it, but this region has a semi-arid climate. In turn, when we go through very dry periods like we have lately, you discover that there have been many other years that were as dry or even drier. For example, through yesterday, Fargo has recorded just 13 hundreds of an inch of moisture this month. If by chance we would go the rest of the month with no precipitation, albeit unlikely, this month would rank as only the 7th driest on record. Even if we only get another tenth or two, that would move us down the list into the 20th to 30th driest. What this means is yes, some areas have been quite dry lately, but many other years were even drier.
