Earlier this week the biggest story tended to deal with the locations that had recorded too much rainfall in the past few weeks. With the high temperatures for the next few days, expected to be near 90° those locations should have an opportunity to finish the drying off process. Yet, rain will be back in the picture again on Sunday and early indications are some of the storms will be locally strong as cooler air comes back into the area for a few days at least. Of course, a few days of warmth, followed by a cold front, then back to warm is a typical pattern in the northern plains during the summer months, especially in June into early July. Although localized heavy rain can fall from any thunderstorm, usually this type of pattern keeps the excessive rains in more localized areas rather than in broad bands like often occurs in the spring.
