Frosty Soils

The frost is still over 3 feet deep in many portions of the region including in Fargo as of yesterday afternoon.  But the warm late April sun is slowly warming the soil and hopefully the frost will be gone in many locations in the next week.  The frost may be slowly withering away,  but the soil temperatures are still cool with 4” soil temperatures only in the 30s and 40s.  The clouds that many of us are experiencing today, plus another cold front passing through on Thursday will keep those temperatures from climbing too much, but overall, temperatures are expected to be at least near average over the course of the next seven days.
