Today is of course the last day of May. Like April, May finished cold and with many of us having short term memories of recent weather events, at first thought you may think this month had colder than average temperatures. May instead finished right near the average with most of North Dakota likely finishing with temperatures one degree below average to one degree above average. The temperatures this month may have ended up near the average, but precipitation was scarce. Most of North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota recorded only between 20-40% of average rainfall with that average being between 2 and 3 inches.
