February is the driest month of the year. A small part of that is because it is a month with only 28 days, but even if we added a couple of days, it would still be the driest. August is the driest month of the summer and February could be considered the August of winter, being the last month of the season. This time of year dry arctic air tend to keep the storm track off to our south more often than during December and January. The first 10 days of the month many areas recorded between 50 and 100% of the normal for the month meaning, that it will only take one more storm to put us above average. February is the driest, but not necessarily every year.
