Welcomed Rain

The rain this past weekend in southeastern North Dakota was one of the most critical rains to have fallen in a long time.  I don’t think it is hyperbole to say it may have saved the crop for many, especially in Richland and Wilkin Counties in the southern Red River Valley.  Although there were a few spots that recorded too much rain, as locations right around Wahpeton and Breckenridge recorded over 5 inches of rain, yet for most of that area, the rain was in a more perfect 1-3 inch range.  Granted, but of the past two decades, 2-3” of rain would cause flooding and crop lose, this year was has been so dry that even that amount of rain was quickly soaked up in the parched soil.
